Curse you, 2021

Curse you 2021. The heartache that I’ve had since you came at one point was almost unbearable. You’re taking people from me and I’m just not ready for it.

January 1st—mom dislocated one of her new hips. We were in Idaho, visiting grandpa Dennis and I was getting ready to call Devin when all of a sudden I hear a slur of bad words and then screaming. Oh the screams could have woke the dead. Moms hip that was totally replaced in October dislocated. Her IT band had been slipping and this time it just dislocated. They took her to the ER in Idaho Falls and was able to put it back. She had another hip replacement a few days later.

January 9-16 honestly was just a blur. My uncle graduated life on the 9th. He fought hard. 21 years actually. Grandpa Donald got diagnosis with pancreatic cancer and we’re dealing with that. It’s been hard. I’ve cried a lot. I don’t even know if I can cry any more tears. Jared was the best uncle. I loved him so very much. Grandpa has taken on a grandpa roll so beautifully. He didn’t have to, but he has.

Gerald and Beth came to visit. They drove down from Oregon to spend a week with grandpa. It’s been nice having them here. Tanner has warmed up to them sooner than usual haha!

Today, 01/25 I had to write a police report. This is what I sent to Officer Taylor Ditzel:

On Monday, January 25, 2021 I arrived at the south Logan Walmart around 10:45 AM. I parked in aisle 4 next to a blue dodge van. As I was getting out of my car I noticed a carry car seat in the van next to me. It had a blanket covering it and it seemed a little strange to me. I went in the store for around 45 mins to an hour just hoping that when I came back out it would be gone. When I got back to my car, the van was still there. I walked around to the drivers side of the van and could see the blanket and what looked like it was tucked under some feet. I felt very uneasy about this as it was cold outside (around 25 degrees) I called dispatch and they sent officer Ditzel to Walmart. I asked to be notified if there was a child in the car and if they were ok or not. Officer Ditzel called me and informed me there was a child in there and she was ok.

This experience helped me to learn that I can trust my instincts. I know that the Holy Ghost was telling me I needed to call dispatch. I didn’t stay to see what happened, but when the officer called me to say there had been a child in there, I was sort of relieved. I was upset and saddened for the sweet baby, but reassured in my motherhood instincts and that I could tell when the spirit was promoting me.
